Memory Reset In Siemens PlC

Memory Reset

The CPU memory can be reset in STOP mode. The memory can be reset manually using the key switch (MRES) or from the programming device (for example, before downloading a user program).

Keep the Toggle key in the MRES for approximately 5 sec and then leave the switch.  Now the Memory reset is carried out

Resetting the CPU memory returns the CPU to its initial status, as follows:

The entire user program in the work memory and in the RAM load memory and all address areas are cleared.

The system parameters and the CPU and module parameters are reset to the default settings. The MPI parameters set prior to the memory reset are retained.

If a memory card (Flash EPROM) is plugged in, the CPU copies the user program from the memory card to the work memory (including the CPU and module parameters if the appropriate configuration data are also on the memory card).

The diagnostic buffer, the MPI parameters, the time, and the runtime meters are not reset

Configuration of a New module In Siemens PLC

Open Simatic Manager
Open the existing hardware configuration.
In the right side window you will find the available modules.
Select the required one to be added.
Click and drag the green slot in the left side of the configuration table.
Double click on the newly inserted module
Select the address manually/system selection.
Now save and compile
Then download to the PLC.
The configuration is complete

Slaves fault Diagnosis In Siemens PLC

Open the “Hard ware configuration” using  Simatic Manager .
Go to Station > Open Online.
Now the same configuration is opened in ONLINE mode.
See the next slide.
If there is any fault there will be a Red Mark on the CPU.
If you see the slave modules you will find a red slanting line over the slave.
Double click on that slave.
Go to Diagnosis .
Follow the steps of corrective action as mentioned.

PLC stop mode fault diagnosis In Siemens

Follow the procedure if the PLC is in stop mode.
Open the “Hard ware configuration” using  Simatic Manager .
Go to Station > Open Online.
Now the same configuration is opened in ONLINE mode.
If there is any fault there will be a Red Mark on the CPU.
Double click on that.
Go to Diagnosis.
There you will find the History of faulty before PLC went to stop mode.
Take corrective action as mentioned there.

By-passing In Siemens PLC

Follow the same procedure for “Modifying”
Force bit for ‘1’ is M 1.1 OR M 99.1
Force bit for’0’ is M 0.0 OR M 99.0.
Use any one of the relevant bits by following the procedure mentioned in the previous slide “Modifying the program”

Modifying the programm in siemens PLC
